The performance of Soyfer plays in many languages

In 1974, a Soyfer Renaissance began – with Helmut Qualtinger, the Schmetterlinge (The Butterflies), Götz Fritsch and many others. In 1980 the „Gesamtwerk“ was published, edited by Horst Jarka. And it began a research about the question of the reception of Soyfer, which had taken place in two dozen countries since the 1930s until then. At first, the texts in German played a role. Their translation since the 1930s has not yet been the focus. The development until then was presented as part of the exhibition Jura Soyfer and Theater, which was shown in over 35 countries. It was not until the 1990s that performances began in many languages. They are linked to new approaches to translations, new public spheres in the context of new technologies, a constitution of Soyfer’s work on the world stage.
