Halqa – The Mother of Theatre
Between 4000 and 2000 years before the common era, nomadic Amazighia were the first to settle in Morocco. Oral and performative traditions can be dated back to the beginning of the Arab conquest. Oral traditions were a part of indigenous culture long before that. – Halqa was carried out in open spaces, in the market or in private homes. My lecture „Halqa – The Mother of Theatre“ deals with the bearer of stories and fairy tales, whose audience gathers in a circle, but also that Halqa is perhaps one of the oldest forms of theatre.
