The revolutionary literature of Jura Soyfer and the revolutionary literature of the revolutions of the Arab Spring – a comparative study
The virtual theatre performance „Vineta – the Sunken City“ by the revolutionary Austrian writer Jura Soyfer deals in Arabic with the idea of the Cultural Revolution in the time of the Hitler military regime. The fundamental significance of this piece becomes clear when you consider that I translated this piece into Arabic in 2011, the year of the outbreak of the revolutions in the Arab world. Since the publication of the translation could not be financed, it was only published in 2016 by INST-Verlag.
In this context, I would like to point out that this play, which deals with the theme of the Cultural Revolution during the time of Hitler’s military regime, had to be performed on the Arab theatres immediately after the outbreak of the revolutions in the Arab world. Rather, it was necessary to hold a conference after the theatrical performance in the Arab world to examine the extent to which the Arab citizen embraced the idea of the Cultural Revolution during the time of the Hitler military regime.
11 years after the outbreak of the revolution in the Arab world, we are organizing this conference under the auspices of the Jura Soyfer Society in Vienna with the aim of presenting the revolutionary literature of the Austrian writer Jura Soyfer, in particular his literary work „Vineta – the Sunken City“ within the framework of a cultural dialogue with the revolutionary literature of the revolutions of the Arab Spring, with the aim of: to identify the similarities and differences in order to support the enlightened cultural dialogue between East and West about the revolution and the revolutionaries.
