Abstract: The drama Astoria is considered to be the politically and analytically most complex of Soyfer’s plays. This can also be seen in the way in which implicit quotations are used productively, which are particularly present in the speech of the protagonist. Inserted into the speech, the quotations enter into dialogue with the context and create a polyphony that opens up historical depths. All in all, a network of intra- and intertextual historical references emerges, which mostly revolve around the topic of state and domination but also truth and lie.
